APD Locate Mother of Deceased Newborn Left in Park

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police say they have identified the mother of a newborn baby girl found dead in an Eagle River park.
   
Police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said Tuesday night in a statement that the mother called for medical help. The spokeswoman says no arrests have been made and the investigation continues.
   
Castro did not provide any additional details.
   
A person found the newborn not breathing just after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Turner Park. The baby was wrapped in a towel.
   
The body will be sent to the state medical examiner to determine the cause of death.
