ANCHORAGE- An Alaskan grown artist is kicking off a southcentral tour of her new record Wednesday. (12/12)

Karissa LaRen grew up playing sports and the drums and says once she found her voice, there was no turning back.
"I started dreaming up a vision of what a record would be about what it would sound like and I met a producer through a friend when I was in Baltimore and we created that sound together," LaRen said.
She signed with an independent music label earlier this year. Her new album, "We Are the Sounds" was released on iTunes Wednesday and is available worldwide. All record sales will fund school yard gardens in Baltimore.
"It's a fusion of acoustic sounds and more hyped up sounds," said LaRen. "The whole theme is unity and it's my relationships and place that I've traveled to over the past few years and taking in those environments."
LaRen flew into Anchorage a few days ago and is ready to Alaska what she's been up to on the east coast, and share the stage with another notable artist.
"I'll be playing all the songs off my new record and I'll be joining Ernie Halter he's a national act currently based in nashville," said LaRen. "Justin Beiber covered one of his songs and he just has a sweet sweet soulful voice."
Despite her success at a young age, LaRen isn't quick to forget the one who continue to help her along the way.
"I would not be here without fans and family and friend supporting this journey."
