In 40 weeks award winning photojournalist Kadir Van Lohuizen documents his travels from the southern tip of Chile to the North Slope here in Alaska.

   In 40 weeks award winning photojournalist Kadir Van Lohuizen traveled from the southern tip of Chile to the North Slope here in Alaska.

     Along the way Kadir documented contemporary migration, he profiled families, communities, and societies. Through his images his goal was to portray the conflict of people in search of a better life, indigenous communities trying to survive and the quest of people exploring natural resources and reserves.
   Kadir has been published in Times, National Geographic, and Newsweek.

This is not the first trip of this kind. In 1976 six jeeps traveled from Tierra delFuego-Argentina to Prudhoe Bay Alaska to celebrate the Bi-Centennial. The trip was done by members of the oldest jeep club in California, The Eldorado Jeep Herders and was known as "Expeditionones De Las Americas." It was filmed by a photojournalist from Nat'l Geographic.
