ANCHORAGE - 40 people are displaced from an apartment complex fire late Thursday afternoon. (1/10)

Initial reports for the fire came in around 3:15 p.m. A total of 19 units from the Anchorage Fire Department responded to the blaze at the North Pointe Apartments at 905 Richardson Vista Rd.

The complex had multiple buildings but the fire was maintained in one building. No injuries were reported at the scene; however 40 people were unable to go back into their apartments.

Red Cross was on site to assist people with overnight shelter at the Fairview Recreational Center.

"It's older construction, but its very well built. It's standard wood frame construction which we consider one of our ordinary fire tacks and one of the ones we use," said Fire Captain Kevin Wallace.

The majoirty of the damage was on the second and third floors of the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
