Becca's Closet Prom Dress Donations

by Maggie Young

The untimely death of a generous teen has led to nation wide prom dress donations.

High school student, Rebecca Kirtman, began collecting prom dresses for teens who couldn't afford them.

After she was killed in a tragic accident, her parents decided to keep her legacy going.

Since them, Rebecca's Closet has spread to 36 states.

Anyone can donate dresses, shoes, or accessories.

The Rebecca's Closet in Anchorage has collected over 200 dresses so far.

Sources say that it's a good way to make use of formal gowns that may not get work again.

Rebecca's closet will be open every Saturday until March 31st from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It's at the Change Point Church loft in South Anchorage.

What an amazing and generous thing that the Kirtman's are doing in honor of their precious daughter's memory. I don't know if it's too late to still donate, but I will definitely go check out their website right now. Thank you for reporting on this!
