Police arrest an Anchorage man for allegedly shooting hs cousin in the foot during an argument over money.
A little after 10 a.m. (1/31) police responded to a mobile home on 7505 Boundary Road in east Anchorage. Police found Jason Chernikoff, 26, with a gunshot wound in his foot.
Chernikoff told police his cousin Chase Brewer, 29, shot him in the foot during an argument over money. K9 units tracked Brewer's footprints and located the shotgun in a storage shed of another mobile home in the same park. K9 units found Brewer shortly afterward and police arrested him at about 11 a.m.
Brewer is charged with 1st degree assault, tampering with evidence and reckless endangerment. He's scheduled to be arraigned at the Anchorage Jail Court tomorrow afternoon. (1/31)
Because the incident occurred within a few miles of Bartlett high school, school officials decided to put the school on lock down.
It was lifted shortly after the arrest, and everything was back to normal for students by 11 a.m.
