Nobody was inside at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. 12 units responded to the blaze and were on scene in a matter of minutes, extinguishing the fire before it damaged much of the home. Fire officials say it appears the fire began on the outside of the house possibly on the porch as much of the damage is outside. Your Alaska Link spoke with a young boy who lives in the home who says he thinks it was started by a cigarette that was not put out all the way. "At this point all I can say is that the fire started outside," said Senior Capt. Jeff Bayless, AFD. "We did hear on the way here that there were reports of explosions, but we did not notice any of those after we got here." The investigation as to what officially caused is ongoing. |
