Anchorage Police do not recommend picking up any hitchhikers along the Seward Highway between Girdwood and Turnagain pass. Earlier today troopers say a suspect kidnapped a man at his home located at 8177 Lake Otis Parkway. For several hours Friday police officers shut down the Seward Highway near mile 70 in the Turnagain Pass searching for the man, believed to be armed and dangerous. Anchorage Police spokesperson, Lt. Dave Parker, says the they stopped at the rest area in Turnagain Pass so the suspect could use the restrooms. The suspect took the car keys but the victim had a spare key and drove off. The suspect is described as a white adult male, approximately 6-feet tall, about 40-years old with a shaved head. He was last seen wearing a black tank top, black pants and carrying a blue and white windbreaker. The suspect has a black and red tattoo on his left shoulder. Residents are encouraged to stay out of the area if possible and do not pick up any hitchhikers in the area. *Correction: APD has referred to the house the victim was allegedly taken from as his grandmother's. It is actually his great grandmother's house. |
