Jake joined Your Alaska Link in August of 2012 as a Sports Multimedia Journalist.

Jake grew up in the booming town of Burlington, Kentucky, a suburb of Cincinnati. He's an alumnus of Conner High School and Western Kentucky University. While in school Jake earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast news, and was a recipient of the Scripps Howard Scholarship--an award given to the top 75 college journalists in the country. He was also named one of the top 2 college broadcasters in Kentucky by the Kentucky Broadcaster's Association.

Journalistically, Jake interned for two years at WCPO-TV in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also became a Sports Multimedia Journalist for "The Extra Point" Sports Show and NewsChannel12. In the summer of 2011, Jake was a fusion journalist for the INMA World Congress in New York City.

Outside of school and work, Jake planned and coordinated a philanthropic event from the ground up, "The Rivalry Run", to benefit the American Red Cross. His efforts have raised more than $25,000 over the past three years. He also enjoys running and being active, and is training to run in a marathon (and eventually trathlon). While never considered an "outdoorsmen", Jake is more than willing to give hiking, hunting, fishing and camping a try. After all--it doesn't get any better than the Last Frontier!

Jake is a firm believer that everyone has a story to share. He looks forward to connecting the great state of Alaska with sports. His big goal is to incorporate YOU into every story--so be sure to follow @RyleJake on Twitter, or use the hashtag #AKSN for a chance to become part of a story.
