Dorene Lorenz

Host / Producer, Alaska Daily

I am a fourth generation Alaskan, with deep roots in my hometown of Seward. My family taught me by example that community service is an important part of our heritage, so I have invested my time as a Seward Historic Preservation Commissioner, on Seward City Council, in the Pioneers of Alaska, and currently sit on the Anchorage Arts Commission.

I have been honored to work all over the nation on a wide variety of projects that have really stretched my skill set - from the interior design of the VIP rooms for Super Bowl XXXI at New Orleans, getting the cover photo for the national magazine Backyard Chicken along with a feature story, having my Great Alaskan novel Midnight Blue Noon published, winning awards as a visual artist, developing content for the Family Village Facebook game, and dipping into the world of film.

My biggest passion is preserving Alaska's past while securing her future through the Friends of the Jesse Lee Home. We are rehabilitating an amazingly beautiful historically significant building and turning it into a magnet high school that teaches our best and brightest the skills that Alaska's next generation of leaders will need to boldly forge into our future.

I am really enjoying my tenure as a host on ABC Alaska Political Insider, discovering not only what the issues are, but who the people are behind the issues.
