APD says they hope to find a man who reportedly kidnapped a teenager who told authorities the suspect forced him to drive south on the Seward Highway. Devin Welsh escaped the armed carjacker at Turn again Pass when the suspect stopped to pee. The guy is still out there.

Set net fishermen held a rally to protest recent King closures. 200 people called for the state to develop hatcheries that would keep the Kenai River stocked with King salmon. Would that change the whole make-up of the Kenai River’s “wildness”???

Former state employee Lisa Carpenter is suing the state, saying that she was not protected from 2 stalkers. She worked for the Division of Public Assistance. Floyd and Mary Transki were disgruntled residents who made false accusations about Carpenter that lead to her resignation. The Harassment went on for almost a year with the state doing nothing to stop it.

The Alaska Supreme Court ruled that the right to confidentiality exists for communications between unions and their members in labor disputes and grievances. Russell Peterson Jr. had gone to the state high court to keep confidential a grievance filed with his union after he was fired for failing to disclose felonies.

The US Department of Interior is questioning Usibelli Coal Mine’s permit at Wishbone Hill. They want more information about the mine’s plans for the area in the Mat-Su. It’s standard form so don’t get your hopes up that it’ll stop the mine from producing.

Kodiak man David Ramirez was sentenced to 3.5 years behind bars for a drug conviction. He was pulled over on a routine traffic stop when cops found he had meth, scales, packing materials, and 2 hand guns. They also found meth on him as he was being booked into the Kodiak jail. Where was he hiding that? I mean didn’t they pat him down before they booked him?
Alaska crude closed at $128 a barrel on news that President Obama was out touting bio-fuels made from algae in 60 years as an alternative.

Oil industry leaders as well as most Americans reject Obama's claim to have given significant support to oil production. These have been the most difficult three years from a policy standpoint that I've ever. Obama can SAY whatever he wants, but the reality has been that the administration has done nothing but restrict access and delay permitting at the agency level.

Sentencing for lunatic Craig Christy of Pennsylvania has been delayed in his harassment case of Sara Palin. He’s been granted time to try and find a doctor to dispute the findings of a federal psychologist. Time being relative, he should find one by 2050!

Sally Jean Maki of Juneau pleaded guilty to laundering drug money. She deposited the drug money as business receipts for Southeast Alaska Tour Company which was just a front for the laundering. In total she deposited over a million bucks. Yeah drug dealers aren’t the top shelf when it comes to brain power. There are no drug dealing Nobel Prize winners.

Sen. Murkowski told the legislature that drilling will happen in ANWR, but don’t hold your breath waiting for it. Yes, thus ends this segment of “Things my Grandpa said 50 years ago”!

People both for and against proposition 5, the equal rights initiative, spoke out in meetings this week. It’s interesting how a so-called religiously affiliated group spoke out against the measure. Most churches support equal rights for ALL and so do I. The initiative will be on the April 3 ballot.

Assembly member Paul Honeman is critical of Mayor Sullivan’s handling of snow removal. So is everyone else, BUT, think of this: We’ve had 108.7 inches of snow this winter compared to an average of 49 inches, and we’ve already spent 8.1 million on snow removal and that’s at a contract price that is lower than previous years.

A LA man sold his vintage comic book collection for $3.5 million. The man plans on taping the dollar bills together to form the shape of a girlfriend.

Many fans are wondering why Rihanna would be willing to work with Chris Brown. These are apparently the same people that have never heard about money.

Russell Brand has been playing the field since his split with Katy Perry. What a bizarre and truly unique way for a famous man to deal with suddenly being single.
Oil company executives told the senate finance committee that they’d like to make more profit from Alaska. That’s great! They say their percentage is down. Yes, but the dollar amounts are up. For example, I’ll give you 90% of this 10 bucks…OR…I’ll give you 50% of this 100 bucks. Take your pick.

The passenger in Eagle River resident David Moore’s truck caught an APD officer driving erratically on the Glenn. There wasn’t a formal complaint filed but they put the video on YouTube. APD says officers are trained to multi-task while driving. The officer later said he was eating a sandwich at the time. Obviously he hasn’t passed that class yet.

Parnell is against a state education funding bill passed by the senate. He said we’re giving 475 million dollars over 5 years to schools without a guarantee that we’re getting anything in return. He called THAT the ultimate giveaway.

HE SAID THAT!!! He’d point a finger in a 6 year olds face and demand results from them, but by GOD, he’ll GIVE oil companies 2 billion a year over 5 years with no guarantees that ANY more oil will EVER flow! No accountability, the ultimate giveaway!

A federal judge refused Exxon’s request that he rule the state or feds cannot seek anymore clean up funds for the Valdez spill. The judge said the possibility that they might doesn’t present a hardship for Exxon…by the way, in the time it took me to read that story, Exxon just made 750,000 dollars!

Rick Santorum received an endorsement from Dave Mustaine of Megadeth…Meanwhile; Ron Paul has received an endorsement from Regular Death.

Mattel has created Barbie versions of Prince William and Kate Middleton. They're just like the real thing, except the dolls actually have a purpose.

Adele says she hopes to release a new album soon . . . well, just as soon as her current boyfriend dumps her.

Jean-Claude Van Damme wears an old-fashioned mustache and sideburns in his new movie. His look is so old-school that the last time it was in style, so was he.
29.6% of ALL Alaskan workers are government employees! That’s number 2 in the nation to Hawaii at 29.7%. This growth of dependency on government is a microcosm of the mass of problems we face as a nation. We continue on this path and we’ll make Greece and Europe look like child’s play.

Revenue officials couldn’t answer at what dollar figure Parnell believes that Alaska’s oil tax structure is broken. They cannot answer at what figure it doesn’t work, because IT WORKS! All the administration would say is that senators hear from the industry. Why, because you forgot their talking points?

APD says its following up on several leads in the Samantha Koenig disappearance. Her father has set up a PO Box for people to send letters of support or tips. Its PO Box 91772 Anchorage 99509. Not questioning motivations here but he does have a face book page where you can send letters of support and APD has 561-STOP for anonymous tips.

Pedro Van Meurs doesn’t like Parnell’s approach to getting a gas line. He likened it to going to a car dealer and TELLING them you’re only going to buy a car from them. See what kind of deal you’ll get. Parnell said we tried that in 2006…NO we didn’t. Murkowski did…by himself…on THEIR terms! THAT didn’t work.

A group called “protect your rights” has popped up in opposition to Prop. 5, the equal rights initiative. They say there should be no law that forces employers to make decisions that conflict with their values. So if that’s the case, then if an employer’s values include someone’s gender, race, ethnicity, or religion as conflicting with their values, they don’t have to hire them either? That’s what civil rights are for! This is not Selma 1954!!!

Fergie says she'd love to be a judge on "The X Factor". Nah. She couldn't even judge the glaring lameness of two guys in her own band.

President Obama unveiled his $3.8 trillion budget for 2013. Not to say we're screwed, but it starts with "Dear China . . ."
7.9%. That’s the pitiful turnout in the valley but it was enough to toss Steve Menard out of his Wasilla city council seat. 261 people decided that he was a waste as a representative. He’d have made a great party animal but that’s not an elected position.

A congressional audit finds big problems with Native Corporation no-bid contracts. They found that little or no work is done by the corporations and that there is no oversight into subcontracting. According to the GAO, it’s like a double kickback. The Native corporations get billions in contracts; they then subcontract it to their own subsidiaries, which in turn get someone else to do the actual job. Sounds fair.

The redistricting board is appealing a judge’s decision that they redraw two house districts. They say that would throw off the whole equilibrium of ALL districts. The ruling would dilute Alaska Native voting strength, all just to appease 2 house members. THAT’S a tragedy in itself.

President Obama says he often drops to his knees to pray. And Oprah usually responds, "I get it. You need more money. Chill."

Going to a live sporting event is better for your health than watching it from home. Unless you're a Raiders fan. Because how often do you get into knife fights on your couch?
