Climbing Great Heights for a Great Cause

Moira Sullivan will attempt the highest peak in Africa to raise money for a local non-profit, Victims for Justice, an organization supporting victims of violent crimes.

 ANCHORAGE - One Alaskan is going to great heights for a great cause.

     
Moira Sullivan will attempt the highest peak in Africa to raise money for a local non-profit, Victims for Justice, an organization supporting victims of violent crimes.
     
Sullivan grew up hiking in Alaska, but has never climbed a classic mountain like Mt. Kilimanjaro. The summit is one of seven on the continent and stands at 17,000 feet. Sullivan she says the climb is a personal mission to help support those that are sadly forgotten.
     
So far, she has raised more than $2,000 of her $3,000 goal. Click here if you would like to donate to the climb for Victims for Justice.
     
Executive director for the non-profit and mother to Moira, Susan Sullivan says her daughter usually raised money through the annual RiverWalk for Justice located at the H2Oasis Indoor Water Park, but decided she had a different plan in mind this year.
     
"The next answer I got from her was, 'I think I will climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and see if I can raise money for Victims for Justice,' and it just seemed like a great idea to all of us," said Susan Sullivan, executive director of Victims for Justice.
      
Moira will begin what is expected to be a six day climb Saturday, November 3.
     
The RiverWalk for Justice is Saturday, November 17 from 8:30 to 11:30 am. The entry fee is $25, and for every $25 raised each participant is entered to win two round trip tickets on Alaska Airlines, to any destination in their system. The chance to win the trip also applies to those donating to Moira Sullivan's climb.
