NEW ORLEANS- They came sculpted, waxed, sprayed, curled, spiked and just plain bushy.
Beards and mustaches molded to fit categories such as Amish, Dali, Imperial and freestyle were celebrated at the 2013 Just for Men National Beard and Mustache Championships this weekend in New Orleans.
Festivities included a parade down Bourbon Street, where a New Orleans brass band led contestants waving flags representing their native states.
It took some contestants hours to shape their facial hair creations, and have them hold up, in the steamy New Orleans heat and humidity.
In all, more than 150 contestants from the U.S., U.K. and Canada competed in 17 categories.
The 4th annual national competition was organized by Beard Team USA. It was held at the House of Blues in the French Quarter.
