Robert E. Alurac
Former North Pole resident Robert E. Alurac, 41, died in mid-July 2007 in the Denver area.
He was born Oct. 19, 1965, in Nome, to Bridget and John Alurac Sr., the ninth of their 10 children.
Robert attended North Pole Middle School and graduated with a GED diploma from the Oregon Department of Education. He also earned a welding certificate. He was a member of the King Islander and Bering Strait Native Corps.
His family said, “Robert always had a smile and loved his nieces and nephews.”
He was preceded in death by his father, John Alurac Sr.; two brothers, Thomas Alurac and Stephen Alurac, who also both died at age 41; sister Martina Alurac, grandmother, Annie Pullock and uncle, David Pullock.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather Bridget and John Brush of North Pole; sister and brother-in-law Rosemary and Bryan Aucremanne of Anchorage; brothers, John Alurac Jr. of Seattle, James Alurac of Anchorage, sister Teresa Alurac of Spokane, Wash., brothers, Joseph Alurac and George Alurac Sr., both of North Pole, and sister Rebekah Barr of Ester; uncle, Raphael Alurac of Anchorage; niece Deborah (Josh) Barney of West Valley, Utah; nephew Michael Wood and children, Kayla Wilson and Kaci and Cameron Wood of Cary, N.C.; niece Judy (Sonny) Johnston and children, Angelique and Andrea Snedden, and Ashley Johnston of Sutton; niece Jessica (Shane) Emerick and children, Sharleen, Tristan, Megan and Jasmine Emerick of Delta Junction; niece Samantha Andrews and children, Danielle and Dakota Sugak of Anchorage; nephew George Alurac Jr. of Salem, Mass., and nieces Cari and Meghan Barr of North Pole.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at Badger Road Christian Fellowship, Six-Mile Badger Road. A cookout will follow at the home of Mac and Bridget Brush, 3400 Our St., located in TOPS Subdivision off Plack Road in North Pole. For further information, call 488-6302.
