Barbra Anne Scott, 41, of Anchorage died May 25, 2007, at Providence Alaska Medical Center.
A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Beluga Point. A potluck will be after the service at a friend's house.
Ms. Scott was born Jan. 13, 1966, in Cleveland, Ohio. She became a resident of Alaska in 1977 and lived in Anchorage, where she was a member of Holy Family Cathedral.
Her hobbies included reading and spending time with family and friends.
Her family wrote: "She was a gentle, kind soul and always there for family and friends. She had a very quick wit and was always the one who got the joke first. She will be sadly missed. She was a best friend to her daughters and a great mother to her son."
She is survived by her son, Jose Galindo of Anchorage; daughters, Julie Galindo of Anchorage, Jessica Barboza of Anchorage and Sandra Barboza of Anchorage; mother, Carol Hakala of Tum Tum, Wash.; stepfather, Ed Hakala of Anchorage; brothers, Robert Scott of Anchorage, Thomas Hakala of Anchorage, Christopher Scott of Florida and Steven Scott of Seattle; granddaughter, Soledad Galindo of Anchorage; uncles, Richard Withrow of Winthrop, Mass., and Bruce Scott of Hanover, N.H.; aunts, Judith Smalley of Sanford, Maine, and Patricia Parsons of Wakefield, Mass.; nephews, Brucie Scott Jr. of Hanover, N.H., David Scott of Anchorage and Michael Scott of Anchorage; nieces, Sarah Scott of Anchorage and Lisa Hakala of Anchorage; other nieces and nephews in Florida; special friends, Sandy Wilson, Alicia and Sherry Thompson, Marilyn Rabb, Tony Galindo and Jodie and Brett.
She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley K. Scott; and grandparents, Ruth and Clarence Scott and Gertrude and Winston Withrow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her son Jose Galindo, age 11, c/o Julie Galindo, 1001 Boniface Parkway, #20, Anchorage 99504.
Ashes will be scattered at Beluga Point and in Newport, Ore.
