Shanelle Mary Shellikoff
Anchorage resident Shanelle Mary Shellikoff, 15, died July 25, 2007, in False Pass.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. today at All Saints' Episcopal Church., 545 W. Eighth Ave. The Rt. Rev. Mark MacDonald, the Ven. Norman Elliott and the Rev. Judith Lethin will officiate.
Shanelle was born March 21, 1992, in Anchorage, to George and Rebecca Shellikoff.
She attended school in False Pass, Grayling, Seattle and Anchorage. She was an honor student at East High School and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Shanelle enjoyed swimming, snowmachining, boating, and camping on the Innoko River with her grandparents, Henry and Dolly Deacon. She spent part of the summer subsistence fishing in Grayling before she traveled to False Pass to subsistence fish in her father's hometown.
Shanelle was the youngest granddaughter of Henry and Dolly Deacon.
Her family wrote: "Her heart-warming smile and helpful nature will be missed by all. She had a kind and gentle spirit and always wanted to make her family happy. She loved large family gatherings and cooking for her brothers and sister. Shanelle enjoyed knitting, beading, fishing, camping, going to the movies, and being surrounded by her loved ones. She loved her friends very much and would talk on the phone or the computer with them constantly. They helped her when she felt sad, and she enjoyed spending time with them."
Shanelle was a member of the Aleut Corp., Isanotski Corp. and Doyon Ltd.
She is survived by her mother, Rebecca Shellikoff; sister, Danelle; brothers, Ivan and Donovan; maternal grandparents, Henry and Dolly Deacon; maternal aunts and uncles, Shirley Clark, Mary Shanigan, Eleanor Sanbei, Debra Deacon, Betty Turner, Steven Deacon, Edith and Sam Brown, Carol and Dean Liebrich, Vivian and Robert Blubaugh, Nelson Deacon and Giulia Oleverio; paternal aunts and uncles, Virginia Smith, Barbara Washington, Julia Smith, Nancy and Esaih Dushkin, Marilyn and Billy Dushkin, Melvin and Grace Smith, Theresa and Charlie Anderson, and Kenneth Smith Jr.; more than 70 cousins; and her great-aunt, Gilda Shellikoff.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Shellikoff; paternal grandmother, Mary Smith; uncles, Robert Shellikoff, Rodney Deacon and Joel Sanbei; cousin, Sean Smith; and great-aunt, Christine Moses.
