Lifelong Alaskan Cecilia Elizabeth Beans, 86, died Aug. 6, 2007, at Alaska Native Medical Center.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m., with a service at 2 p.m., today at Evergreen Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Gerald Brunet will officiate. A second service will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mountain Village. Honorary pallbearers will include Raphael Beans, Paul Beans, Ed Beans, Carl Beans and William Beans. Burial will be in Mountain Village Cemetery.
Mrs. Beans was born Aug. 23, 1920, in Pastolik on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta. She attended Old Akulerak Mission Catholic School. She was a homemaker.
She was a skin sewer and enjoyed making many beautiful parkas, boots, kuspuks, hats and dolls. She also enjoyed Christian and country music, and had a beautiful talent for singing and Yup'ik storytelling. She had been recognized by the Mountain Village Traditional Council with the Elder Award.
"She was caring and loving, unselfish, a wonderful cook and baker whose creations were enjoyed not only by family, but many others," her family wrote. "She was a very good provider and a wonderful homemaker. Cecilia was very warm hearted."
Survivors include her sons, Raphael Beans, Paul Beans, Carl Beans and Williams Beans, all of Mountain Village, and Edward Beans of Anchorage; daughters, Annie Hunter of Marshall, Mary Ellen Evans of Anchorage, Eunice Bryan and Carol Redfox of Mountain Village; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aldrick Beans, and daughters, Theresa and Pauline.
