FAIRBANKS, Ak-- The Fairbanks North Star School Board has placed its Superintendent, Pete Lewis, on administrative leave.

The district announced the decision on Monday night after a closed session.

The meeting was to discuss a personnel investigation and potential claims against the district.

The change is not a disciplinary action and not a result from any determination of wrong-doing.

Assistant superintendent, Karen Gabork, will work as acting interim Superintendent.

School officials say their main concern is still day to day operations within the school district and making sure their students get a good education.
