ANCHORAGE- Lake Otis Elementary School held a "Music Day", with everything from singing and dancing, to playing instruments, all for music education.

Students were treated to a variety of performances from their own school choir, as well as folk games, a violin performance of Ferdinand the Bull, the eash High School Men's Choir, and the Grace School's Orff Ensemble. Each presentation displayed a variety of different music and instruments to expose children to different genres.

Their principal, Douglas Gray, agrees this type of event is beneficial to not only the kids, but to remind the community of the importance of music in school.

"Just so that they see the bigger picture that music isn't just something on the radio. It's in different parts of the community. We do have the symphony here different choirs just a lot for the students to be exposed to, so this is one way for us to expose them to music as an overall piece."

The day concluded with three workshops for each class to attend. The students learned new songs, dances, and pieces to play on their instruments.
