Dozens of people testified at tonight's school board meeting. They were there to speak out against possible job cuts in the 2011-12 budget for the Anchorage School District. The current cuts could displace 50 people currently employed with the district. Close to 89 percent of the districts budget is comprised of salaries and benefits. The proposed cuts include a middle school and high school assistant principle, 17 library media aides, 1 secretary from each comprehensive High School and an end to the Safe and Drug free schools program. The board will take their final vote on the budget at their February 3rd meeting and pass it along to the Assembly.
