UAF short of money for engineering building
The University of Alaska Fairbanks is facing a gap in the construction schedule of a new engineering building because it's running short of money for the project.
The Alaska Legislature approved $5 million this session for the building. UAF spokeswoman Marmian Grimes tells reporters UAF needs another $28.5 million.
Grimes says the money in hand should allow construction through April.
The lack of additional funding means the construction could shut down for two months until July 2015 when additional funding approved next year by the legislature would become available.
Grimes says university leaders are looking for ways to continue construction during May and June 2015.
