It's that time of year again, and GMAK brings you Erin Kirkland of AKontheGo with news about our Alaska State Fair!

Alaska actually has 2 official state fairs: the Tanana Valley Fair in Fairbanks, and the Palmer Alaska State Fair. Since 1956, when both simultaneously applied for the position, they've rotated the "official" brand every year.

The Tanana Valley State Fair, one of Alaska's oldest, kicks off on August 2nd for a week packed of family fun, rides, and all-Alaskan attractions!

The Alaska State Fair in Palmer runs August 22nd to September 2nd, with a wide range of big-name performers, fair food, and as always, the giant, valley-grown vegetable contests. Be on the look out for special rates on select days, like Kid's Day, where fair goers 12 and under get in free with mom and dad.

You can preorder tickets online for admission and shows, and find so much more on the Alaska State Fair website, plus Tanana Valley Fair's!
