Stevie sits down with DeAnna Roering of the Salvation Army to learn more about the HUGS & Coats for Kids event, happening Tuesday, August 18.

HUGS (Help Us Give School Supplies) & Coats for Kids is a state wide, retail-sponsored event dedicated to helping children grades K-12 in low-income families get the supplies they need for their first day of school. This includes backpacks, notebooks, pencils, etc, and of course, brand new winter coats, thanks to Fred Meyer's and Wal-Mart of Alaska.

The event opens at 9am at the Sullivan Arena, and each family will need to fill out a registration and application. No pay stubs are required, but IDs are needed for all parents in attendance.
