Stevie sits down with Brooke Taylor fo the Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center about how to keep your pets safe during the excitement of the holiday weekend. According to the AACCC, the Independence Day weekend is when more pets get lost or injured, as compared to the rest of the year.

Here are some basic safety tips for keeping your four legged friends home and safe!

  • Keep your pet in a SECURE and quiet setting
  • Make sure all windows and doors are closed
  • Turning on a tv or radio can help keep your pet calm
  • Take a picture of your pet (just in case!)
  • Check that your pet has CURRENT MOA dog license, ID tag, and rabies tag securely fastened to their collar

Brooke also recommends, in the case of a missing pet, to call and COME in to the local animal shelters every 2-3 days, to ensure the safe return of your pet.
