Barack Obama officially filed to be on Alaska's 2008 Presidential Ballot. Officials say he's the first Democratic presidential- candidate to have a paid campaign staff in the last frontier in over a decade.

At a news conference Wednesday, Joe Hardenbrook, Obama's Alaska Campaign manager, presented a $1000 check to the Alaska Democratic Party. With volunteers and several other elected officials joining together, each explained why Obama, a freshman Senator from Illinois, should be the next U.S. President.

Officials say that more than 1200 Alaskans have expressed interest in voting for Obama on his campaign website.
