Doyon corporation names new president

Norm Phillips has been named the president and chief executive officer of the Doyon Native corporation located in Alaska's Interior. For two decades Phillips was employed by the corporation as a lands manager.

Phillips also has experience directing the Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce and the Fairbanks Economic Development Corporation.

Interim president Jim Merry, who currently holds the vice president position, will step down from his temporary post as Phillips takes over. Merry served as interim president since board members forced former executive Orie Williams out of office in late 2007.

Phillips earned a degree in geological engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
