One-year-old Dies In Accidental Drowning

by Jamey Kirk

The mother of a one-year-old Noorvik child is mourning the loss of the child. The child died over the weekend, when it apparently wandered outside the family home and fell into a large puddle.

At about 1:00 am on Saturday morning Alaska State Troopers in Kotzebue responded to a report of an accidental death. Troopers responded to the Noorvik village and investigated the scene.

Apparently the child was able to leave the house because another child left an outside door open. Having noticed the child missing inside the home, the mother went outside to look and discovered the child laying in a large puddle.

Troopers reported that no foul play was suspected.
