As previously announced by corporate leaders, Starbucks will begin its first round of store closings, which will end once approximately 600 company-operated stores in the U.S. have been closed. Fortunately Alaska was not amongst the first round of closings.

Employees of the fated stores have already been notified. As the company stated in a prior press release, many of the stores that will be closed down are stores that are in close proximity to another Starbucks shop. In some cases employees may be transferred to the other store.
