Alaska State Troopers say two children have been killed in a house fire. Troopers identified the victims of the early Wednesday morning
fire as 9-year-old Jasmine Ewan and 6-year-old Elijah W. Ewan. They were staying with their aunt, Nelly R. Ewan, 40, who was able to get out of the house with her 3-year-old son by escaping through a rear bedroom window. Nelly Ewan was injured by the fire, and troopers say she was flown to an Anchorage hospital for treatment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Copper Center is a community of 300 residents about 180 miles east of Anchorage. It is located just west of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park.
