FAIRBANKS- The Alaska Public Offices Commission staff is recommending a fine for the newly elected mayor of Fairbanks.

APOC staff says Mayor John Eberhart should be fined $3,943 for campaign finance violations and ordered to reimburse his employer $384 for using office phones and a copying machine.
Eberhart says that he will challenge the allegations that he violated campaign rules.
Eberhart was elected in October to his first term as mayor.
APOC staff attorney Heather Hebdon says Eberhart accepted non-monetary contributions from his employer, Tanana Chiefs Conference, in the form of office equipment use.
APOC staff also contends his campaign accepted $500 in catering from a catering company.
Alaska law prohibits corporate campaign contributions.
The commission could address Eberhart's case in February.
