SITKA- The medical director and administrator of a tribal health consortium in Sitka is taking a new job.
A spokesman for the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium says Dr. Marty Grasmeder is leaving at the end of September to take a medical director position in Portland, Ore. Spokesman Michael Jenkins says the move will put Grasmeder closer to family.
The consortium's assistant medical director, Dr. John Baciocco, will take over as medical director from Grasmeder. Noel Selle-Rea will be interim administrator.
Selle-Rea was hired on a six-month contract while the consortium seeks a permanent replacement.
His termination last year as CEO of the Wrangell Medical Center sparked a legal fight with the city of Wrangell over the severance package he received from the hospital's board.
