Alaska Bear Mauling Victim Released From Hospital
A man who was attacked by a brown bear in northern Alaska during a guided hunting trip has been released from the hospital.
ANCHORAGE- A man who was attacked by a brown bear in northern Alaska during a guided hunting trip has been released from the hospital.
The man- identified as hunting guide James Tuttle was rescued Friday more than 36 hours after he was mauled about 30 miles north of the village of Anaktuvuk Pass.
After the rescue, Tuttle was treated at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.
Hospital spokeswoman Kelly Atlee says Tuttle was released Sunday morning. Tuttle couldn't be reached for comment Monday.
Initial rescue efforts by local search teams and Alaska State Troopers were thwarted by dense fog.
The injured man was rescued by the Alaska Air National Guard after the 11th Air Force Rescue Coordination Center offered to help.
