JUNEAU- Alaska state lawmakers have adopted a policy for use of Facebook from legislative computers for government business.

The Legislative Council on Wednesday approved allowing the access to legislators, legislative press offices, webmasters and nonpartisan legislative agencies and staff of those agencies.
The issue has been a tricky topic for lawmakers, who have struggled to decide how to proceed after the council, in 2011, approved a one-year trial for lawmakers, legislative press offices and webmasters.
The issue has come up since but with no clear consensus on a path forward and additional requests for access to the site being made by nonpartisan legislative agencies.
Chairman Mike Hawker said he wanted to bring some finality to the issue, which was debated for more than an hour at Wednesday's meeting in Anchorage.
