ANCHORAGE- Anchorage teachers have voted to approve a new three-year proposed contract.
The Anchorage Education Association on Wednesday announced a majority of members backed the proposal.
Union leaders endorsed the contract.
Association President Andy Holleman says in a prepared statement there are concerns about what the Alaska Legislature might do to health care and other bargaining issues and a three-year contract offers the most security members could get.
The contract must be approved by the school board and is scheduled to be considered Sept. 9.
It proposes an annual 1 percent salary increase and a $1,500-bonus in years one and three.
The contract would contribute $1,465 per month for health care coverage in year one and $1,540 in years two and three.
