SITKA- The head of a non-governmental relief organization in Laos might be working closer to home.
The assembly has offered the position of city administrator to Tom Gorman, a 35-year Sitka resident.
The assembly was scheduled to make the selection among four finalists Monday, but then added the name of the acting city administrator as another finalist, delaying the decision by a day.
Gorman, one of the original four finalists, was returning to Laos and following the assembly's actions this week when he found hot spots in Seattle, Tokyo and Bangkok.
He tells the Sentinel via email that he's "thrilled by the news."
The offer includes a salary of $125,000.
