ANCHORAGE- Bears are still looking for some last snacks before hibernating.

Bears have been rummaging through unsecured garbage cans in recent weeks.

Incidents have been reported in the Rabbit Creek area and near Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

Alaska Department of Fish and Game area biologist Jessy Coltrane says bears haven't gone into their dens yet for winter, and likely won't do so for another few weeks.

Weather isn't the only factor of when bears go into hibernation. Another state biologist, Dave Battle, says bears hibernate when they run out of food sources.
