Big Lake, AK - A pilot is dead and a passenger has received life-threatening injuries after a plane crash early Sunday morning according to Alaska State Troopers.

Reports say the crash happened around 2:30 AM Sunday at the Big Lake Airport just north of Anchorage.
And Troopers tell us someone saw the accident happen.
"An eyewitness reported to Troopers that it appeared as though the plane was having some type of trouble and tried to make an emergency landing when it struck trees and power lines and crash landed there," said Tim DeSpain with the Alaska State Troopers.
Troopers identified the pilot as 50 year old Anchorage resident, Christopher Cyphers and the passenger is being treated at an Anchorage area hospital.
