ANCHORAGE- The Alaska National Guard says improved weather has allowed extensive searching for a plane and pilot missing near Yakutat.

Pilot Alan Foster landed his Piper PA-32 Cherokee at Yakutat on Monday, refueled and took off for Anchorage.
Authorities say his airplane disappeared from radar at about 4 p.m. Monday near the Malaspina Glacier. The airplane was not carrying an emergency locator beacon.
Guard spokesman Lt. Bernie Kale reports that six Civil Air Patrol aircraft were available to search Thursday.
They flew out of Anchorage, Kenai and Valdez.
