FAIRBANKS- The missile defense commander at Fort Greely has been suspended over his handling of alleged sexual misconduct at the base in Alaska.

Army spokesman Marco Morales says Lt. Col. Joseph Miley's command of the Fort Greely-based 49th Missile Defense Battalion was suspended Tuesday.

Morales reported that Miley lost his command because of preliminary findings of a sexual misconduct investigation that started in January.

Morales said the findings were still being reviewed. But he said they do not accuse Miley himself of any sexual misconduct. Morales said it was "more a leadership issue than anything else."
