Fort Wainwright Closes Wood Cutting Areas

Officials say that all firewood cutting areas on base, located within the Fairbanks North Star Borough, have been closed.
All borough firewood-cutting areas were closed last week to personal-use and commercial logging. The state also has suspended operations at its wood-cutting areas.
Fort Wainwright officials say in a release that that wood cutting areas at the Donnelly Training Area will remain open unless the state Division of Forest Office closes facilities in the Delta Junction area.
