KENAI- Employees of Kenai's wastewater treatment plant made it to work Tuesday but not by car.

Heavy rain saturating the ground created a gaping hole in the city's South Spruce Street, preventing traffic from reaching the plant.
A minivan fell in the hole and had to be pulled out.
Water pumps were installed to clear water from the fissure.
City manager Rick Koch says the ground became saturated before the road gave way.
On the east side of Kenai Peninsula near Seward, a waterfall swollen by heavy rain flowed over a bridge on Lowell Point Road.
Residents were cut off from reaching Seward until Tuesday night.
Koch and Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor Mike Navarre issued local disaster declarations Tuesday for damage to property.
