FAIRBANKS- Hundreds turned out Thursday night at Fairbanks City Hall to celebrate the life of a longtime public servant who died in November of complications from heart surgery.

Pat Cole was remembered as a soft-spoken adviser who worked for both the city and the Fairbanks North Star Borough.
The city council this month named their building for him, the Patrick B. Cole City Hall.
Former city Mayor Jerry Cleworth called Cole the institutional glue that held the operation together.
Cleworth says Cole was always looking for a better way of doing things and his ability to serve multiple mayors was a testament to his character and effectiveness.
