ANCHORAGE- The first Lego League State Championship tournaments were held this weekend in South Anchorage.

Teams from all over, ages 9 to 16, designed, built, and programmed Lego robots to score points on a themed playing surface.

Each team was tasked with completing problem solving missions geared towards science and technology.

This years theme was "Nature's Fury". Teams had to identify a community that could experience a natural disaster and create a solution.

More than 50 teams competed.

A Girl Scouts of Alaska team called The Electionically Overdressed Survivors won Overall State Champion.

They will go on to compete at a National Lego Robotics Tournament later this year.
