KODIAK- Ongoing abuse of public restrooms at a Kodiak harbor is leading harbor officials to consider a keycard lock system.

Kodiak Shipyard manager Lon White says a handful of citizens damages the public restrooms on Shelikof Street and make it unusable.
He told the Kodiak Ports and Harbor Advisory Board on Wednesday that vandals camp in the restroom, drink alcohol and deface the property.
White says Kodiak Police Chief T.C. Kamai has proposed a system with a keycard lock that would limit entry. Staff at the harbormaster's office could issue cards.
The keycard system would cost $5,000 and $10,000 to purchase and install.
