ANCHORAGE- A Kasilof pilot was uninjured after a plane was found upside down on a sandbar near Cold Bay.

Alaska State Troopers say in a Friday web post that wildlife troopers spotted the plane while flying over the mouth of the Joshua Green River, about 20 miles north of Cold Bay, on Wednesday.

The troopers saw people standing around the plane, which appeared to be unoccupied. Troopers couldn't land or reach the people on the radio, so they notified the U.S. Coast Guard.

Troopers say the Coast Guard sent a helicopter, which picked up the pilot, Matthew L. Owen.

The National Transportation Safety Board was notified of the incident.

Cold Bay is located about 625 miles southwest of Anchorage, in the Aleutian Islands.
