ANCHORAGE- Anchorage police say a 7-year-old boy was attacked for the second time by a dog belonging to a family friend.

Police spokeswoman Dani Myren says police were informed about the attack shortly after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The boy and his father were visiting the friend's south Anchorage home when Dexter - a Rottweiler/Labrador retriever mix - attacked the boy in the face.

Myren says the boy's father and the friend drove the child to a fire station. From there, the boy was taken to Providence Alaska Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Myren says Dexter also reportedly attacked the boy two or three years ago and that child might have provoked the animal.

Dexter was taken to the animal shelter and its status wasn't immediately clear.
