SITKA- A small community is Southeast must double the size of its student population before the end of the month or face closure.

School board members in Tenakee Springs are trying to get people to move to town to save the school, but it might be an uphill battle as other residents are looking to move elsewhere for their children's education.
The community is located on Chichagof Island, about 50 miles north of Sitka. The community is only accessible by boat or plane, and has - depending on the time of year - between 50 and 100 residents.
There are five students enrolled in school, but they need 10 to remain a school by state standards. If it falls below that status, state funding could be affected.
