Soldiers on Monday blew up the 110-pound aerial bomb that washed up near Chignik.
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service personnel spotted the bomb.
Army Spc. Vincent Wallace says it could not be identified by cellphone pictures but he found Cyrillic letters on it.
He and Staff Sgt. Lucas Stephens used plastic explosives to blow up the bomb.
Both soldiers are from Fort Richardson in Anchorage.
Chignik is 450 miles southwest of Anchorage and 260 miles southwest of Kodiak.
