JUNEAU- The state health department says it's getting bonuses for outstanding performance in administering the federal food stamp program.
The department says its Public Assistance division will received more than $710,000 in bonus awards from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for its work during the 2012 fiscal year.
According to a release, the division plans to use the bonus funds to improve the administration and operation of Alaska's food stamp program.
The department says the program served an average of about 90,000 Alaskans a month during the award period.
