ANCHORAGE - A 39-year-old Homer man is accused of firing a gun while intoxicated as Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of shots fired.

Timothy Magee is charged with assault and possessing a firearm while intoxicated.

Troopers say two officers arrived at the Char Court neighborhood shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday. Spokeswoman Megan Peters says neighbors had heard loud noises at Magee's home, assumed an argument was going on and then heard shots fired.

According to troopers, Magee yelled at the responding officers, referring to a .44 caliber handgun, then fired several shots as the troopers cordoned off the area. Peters says the officers retreated and called for backup from the Special Emergency Reaction Team.

The team arrived with an armored vehicle and Magee was arrested.

No one was injured.
